The Mermaid Mercantile

Wow. This place is a creative person’s dream come true. Out of the Blue is a beautiful shop in the Cedros Design District in Solana Beach, CA. And on the last Sunday of every month they host the Mermaid Mercantile where crafters and antique dealers from near and far come together to showcase their art. Every nook and cranny of the property is filled with amazing finds! If you are after distinctive decor for your wedding or home I HIGHLY suggest you check out the mercantile. I stopped by on Sunday to take some photos for Debi & the girls who are absolutely amazing, kind, and warm-spirited. In fact, everyone I met at the mercantile was helpful, creative, and inviting. They are the kind of people who make you enjoy being in their presence even though you don’t know them personally. Wedding peeps, doesn’t this make you want to set up your office in their back yard? WIPA – Wedding Industry Professionals Association

On Tuesday I spent the afternoon at the amazing Langham Pasadena photographing WIPA’s monthly meeting. For those of you not familiar with WIPA (Wedding Industry Professionals Association), they are an amazingly talented group of people who come together to share knowledge, support each other, make new industry friends, offer referrals, and thanks to Langham this month, indulge in amazing food. This was only my second time attending but I can already tell that these are the kind of people I want to surround myself with. They are kind, intelligent, dedicated, and at the top of their wedding game!

The other bonus from this month’s meeting was speaker, Mary Dann, wedding planner and co-author of the newly released book, Wedding Wisdom. She taught us ways to stay balanced and well in order to be able to give as much as well all want to to our clients and businesses. It was easy to tell that Mary’s words resonated with the group. We have all certainly been guilty of pouring too much of ourselves into our businesses and burning out. Thank you for your time and insight, Mary!

Party! Sweet Cheeks Baking Company turns three years old

I met the Sweet Cheeks Baking Company gals a little over a year ago. I had no idea, of course, that they would become some of my dearest friends but I meant it when I said in this post from their party last year that they make you feel like an old friend the minute you meet them. Thank you, for all of the love and support you’ve offered me both professionally and personally over the past year. It has been such a joy to see your business grow! You all are AMAZING at what you do.

The party was a huge success! I know I met a ton of new friends. :) I’m excited to see what we all accomplish together in 2010!!

Cooks Confab, Little Italy Mercato & A Reason To Survive

The Little Italy Mercato in downtown San Diego is far more than your typical Farmer’s Market. From book signings, to chef demonstrations, showcases of talented artists and musicians, and of course delicious local vegetables, fish, and fine food purveyors, Catt White and her team at the Mercato are consistently bringing San Diegans the very best. Last Saturday, December 5th was no different when Cooks Confab teamed up with Slow Food Urban San Diego and the Mercato to bring us “Street Food” a benefit for ARTS (A Reason to Survive). The very best of San Diego’s chefs came out, many of them with their children, to give us a taste of their favorite Street Food and help a very worthy organization.
