They were trying to decide as they walked from the parking lot to meet me at the Organ Pavillion at Balboa Park. Do we hug, do we shake hands? This was the first time I met Jessica & Michael, their first time doing professional photos together, and they were a little nervous. They walked towards me carrying their outfit changes, looking cute as can be and I knew it must have been them. So me being me, I gushed, “Hiiiii!” and hurried over and gave them big hugs. I inadvertently relieved the pressure. I never even noticed the nervousness because they immediately started laughing and explained that they weren’t sure if they should hug me or shake my hand. We had so much to talk about so we chatted and laughed for those first few minutes and I immediately felt the connection between the two of them and enjoyed their enthusiasm about our shoot. So yup, I’m a hugger. Because nothing says “relax! don’t be nervous! let’s have fun taking photos” like a stiff firm handshake. ;)
I hadn’t done an engagement shoot in Balboa Park for at least a year and was super excited to hit up some new spots, and re-visit some old ones with a fresh perspective. Jessica & Michael… you guys look amazing!
